Naming Worksheets

How do you change the default names of the worksheets within an Excel workbook?

Here’s the answer:

  1. Right-click the tab for a sheet you want to name.
  2. Select "Rename" from the pop-up menu.
  3. Type a meaningful name-it will appear right on the tab. It can be up to 32 characters long, though keeping it short means having room to see several tabs at once.
  4. Press "Enter" and the new name will appear.
Below is an example:

Now the sheets are no longer identified as "Sheet 1", ‘Sheet 2", etc.
