Adding a Personal Signature File to Netscape E-mail messages.

 Did you know…….?

You could add a signature to your Netscape e-mail messages?

 It’s easy! Follow the steps below to add a signature file to personalize your Netscape e-mail messages.

 1.                  Open Word.

 2.                  Add personal information such as your name, campus address, phone extension, fax number, and e-mail address to the file.

 3.                  Name and Save the file, with a File Name such as ‘signaturefile’ or ‘signaturetest’ as listed below.  Change the Save as type:  to “Text Only”  as displayed in the sample below.

 


 

 

·        This will save your signature file as a .txt file type.

 

4.                  Click OK to close the Save As dialog box.

 5.                  Open your Netscape Messenger email program.

 6.                  From the main Netscape Messenger window, select the Edit Preferences option.

 7.                  Click the “+” sign to the left of Mail & Newsgroups to change it to a “-“ minus sign.  This indicates an expanded option with sub-options as listed in the dialog box below.

 

 8.                  Click on the first sub-option under Mail & Newsgroups, “Identity”.  The Preferences dialog box will change accordingly as below.

 

 9.                  Click in the Signature File box and type the signature file location and name.  Be sure to type in the entire location include the drive letter and folder such as c:\my documents\signature file.txt.

 Tip:  Click the Choose… button to locate the signature file and location using a dialog box as in the sample below.

 

 The selected file will list in the dialog box as below.

 

 

10.              Click OK to close the Preferences dialog box.  Send a test message if desired.  The custom signature will be added to the message automatically.
