  Selecting Multiple Items in a List

 To select multiple items in a list, follow the steps below.

 For a continuous block of items,

 ·        Point to and click on the first item in the list. It will be selected and highlighted as below.

For example, the first file in an Explorer file folder list as in the sample below.

 

·        Move your mouse and point to the last item in the list but do not click.

·        Press and hold the Shift key on your keyboard.

·        Click the left mouse button.  The group of continuous files will be selected and highlighted as in the sample below.

 

 

  • Continue copying, moving or deleting as desired.

 For a non-continuous block of items,

 ·        Point to and click on the first item in the list. It will be selected and highlighted as previously described.

  • Point to the next item but do not click the mouse.
  • Press and hold the Ctrl (Control) key on your keyboard.
  • Click the list item.  Both items will now display as highlighted and selected as below.

 

 

  • Continue pressing the Ctrl and mouse click combination to select another non-continuous item (s) as below.

 

 

  • Continue with the item commands as needed.  (Deleting or copying files, for example.)
