Windows 95

Shut Down

DON’T JUST TURN YOUR PC OFF!  All Windows 95 PC’s require you to shut down your PC in a particular way. If you do not follow these instructions, you may lose PC settings you have made, loose important data or cause your PC system to become unstable. Prior to turning off your PC for the day follow these simple steps:

1.      Make sure you have saved all your files. Exit all the programs you are running such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Netscape . . .. Using your mouse, left click the “Start” Icon.

2.      Using your mouse, left click on “Shut Down…”

3.      The first check off box “Shut down the computer?” will be marked.

4.      Using your mouse, left click on the “OK” button.

5.      Depending on the PC system you have, your system will either shut itself down, or give you a message indicating that it is safe to turn your PC off.
