Headers and Footers

Headers and Footers are used to repeat text on each page of a document. Your header and footer may contain such information as the page number, date, your name or department, etc. The header displays the information you have chosen in the top margin of the page, the footer in the bottom margin of the page.

To create Headers and Footers on an Open document:

  1. Click on View on the Menu Bar
  2. Click on Header and Footer on the pull down menu
You will notice that the Header appears and a Header/Footer toolbar. If you are not typing a header, switch between the Header and Footer using the button explained below.

You can type any text you would like in your Header and Footer, however, the Header/Footer toolbar offers you shortcut buttons for certain items. Some of them are noted below in the call out boxes:

Headers and Footers help make your document look very professional. While they may seem a little complicated at first, you should soon get used to using them and you will appreciate the results.
