Word 97

The Highlighter Icon

Remember highlighting books and documents, line after line with your little fluorescent yellow marker? Word 97 lets you relive those halcyon days with its OWN highlighter!

Here's how it works:

  1. Select the text you'd like to highlight.
  2. On the Formatting toolbar, click the Highlight button (which, nostalgically enough, has a little picture of a marker on it, yellow should already be the default color) and the selected text should be highlighted.
Or
  1. Left click once on the Highlight icon, your mouse cursor turns into a highlighter.
  2. Highlight (select) the text you want highlighted and when you let go of the left mouse button, it will be highlighted. Press the ESC key once to turn your mouse cursor back to its normal setting.

When you print in color, the highlighted text will print in the selected color. When printing in monochrome, the highlighted text will print in a shaded gray.
