Templates

Microsoft Word contains many helpful templates for specific types of documents. You can customize these templates with your specific information and use them over and over again. This week we’ll try Contemporary Fax.

  1. Open Word
  2. Left click on "File"
  3. Left click on New. Notice that the "General" tab containing "Blank Document" is in the foreground. There are additional tabs in the background.
  4. Left click on the "Letters & Faxes" tab.
  5. Double click on "Contemporary Fax" to open the template.
  6. Type your address in the upper right hand corner where instructed.
  7. Type your name where instructed next to From:
  8. Choose Save As from the File menu. In the "Save As Type" box in the lower left corner, choose Document Template. (click on the down arrow for choices).
You have now set up your own custom fax template.

Now when you are ready to send a fax, Open Word, choose File, New and the "General" tab will have something called Fax Coversheet. This is the custom fax template you created with your name and address already entered.

You can now type in the information pertinent to the specific fax and print it out. The recipient will be impressed with your beautiful coversheet.
