POLICY:
CRITERION FOR RESIDENCY (WITH RESPECT TO STUDENT TUITION)
WHEREAS, the General Accounting and Procedures Manual for County Colleges provides that the criterion for residency (to determine whether or not a student pays in-county or out-of-county tuition rates) shall be six months residency within the county; and
WHEREAS, on April 1, 1969, the State Department of Higher Education published a directive indicating that said rule was to be modified in each county to conform to the criterion used by the county itself for other purposes; and
WHEREAS, the criterion used by Middlesex County for other purposes is eligibility to vote, which until the Spring of 1972 required six months residency; and
WHEREAS, in the Spring of 1972, the requirement for eligibility to vote was reduced to forty days residency, and in 1974 further reduced to thirty days so the criterion used by Middlesex County for determining residence for other purposes is now thirty days;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that effective immediately the criterion to be used by the College for the purpose of determining whether or not a student is entitled to the in-county and out-of-county tuition rate shall be thirty days continuous residency within the respective county immediately preceding the registration date for the semester involved.
