< Computerized Medical Office Program (Financial Aid Available)

This course prepares students for a career in the much understaffed Healthcare industry.  Students will explore the language of “Medical Terminology”, ICD-9 and CPT-4 Coding (including hospital coding), medical billing/insurance.  HIPAA compliance and MediSoft. 

The students will also be taught the complete Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) to the proficient level. 

660 hours. (Tuition $3,100 + general fee $220 + lab fee $780 + material fee $300) Total $4,400

PHLEBOTOMY TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATE

 Why You Should Attend

If you are interested in joining one of today’s fastest growing health care professions, this program is for you. According to a report for the American Society of Clinical pathologists, phlebotomists are in high demand.  Phlebotomy technicians often continue their education in other areas of allied health and become medical assistants or nurses.

  What is Phlebotomy?

Phlebotomists work in hospital and private laboratories, physician offices, pharmaceutical companies and private and public research programs.  They gather and process blood specimens for analysis, identify and select equipment used in blood collection and must understand factors that affect collection procedures and test results.

Physical examination showing proof of immunizations

Demonstrated proficiency in spoken and written English    

Criminal background check

Professional liability insurance and fingerprinting

Students must be certified in CPR prior the program completion.

Waived Courses:

In certain situations Phlebotomy I may be waived at the discretion of Middlesex County College.  To be considered, you must submit documented evidence of successful completion of an equivalent course along with a course waiver form and a $50 processing fee, proof of a completed criminal background check, proof of personal health insurance and  $36 for malpractice insurance. CEU 5.2

In a lab setting, you will learn the proper procedure for handling, transporting, and processing samples; the use of blood collection supplies; and proper venipuncture technique. In addition, you will expand your knowledge of memory, physiology, and medical terminology.

 < Phlebotomy III: Externship

CEU 10.0

You will be placed at a medical laboratory, hospital, medical center or physician’s office where you will collect samples and perform other duties associated with Phlebotomy.  Site selection and schedule is dependent upon location availability, with consideration given to individual schedules.  You are required to work 100 hours and perform 100 collections while completing your externship.  Externships begin after March 21.

AHPH 003-01. (Tuition $400+ general fee $165)  Total $565.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Phlebotomy I & II

 

EKG TECHNICIAN PROGRAM

What is an EKG Technician?

As an EKG technician, you will perform an electrocardiogram (EKG or ECG) which measures the electrical impulses of the heart.  EKG technicians work in hospital, private medical practices, nursing homes, clinics and insurance companies.

* Students must be certified in CPR prior to program completion

* Anatomy and physiology of the heart
