ACCOUNTING

<  Computerized Accounting Program  (Financial Aid Available)

Gain comprehensive skills in computerized accounting procedures.  Accounting topics include: accounting principles, receivables/payables and payroll. Also, this course offers instruction in Peachtree, QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) with an emphasis on Excel’s spreadsheet applications.

660 hours (Tuition $3,100 + general fee $220 + lab fee $780 + material fee $300) Total $4,400

<  Microsoft Office with Accounting Emphasis

This program prepares students in the Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook, with an emphasis on spreadsheet applications.  Students are prepared for Microsoft’s comprehensive MOS proficiency exam.

330 hours (Tuition $1,550 + general fee $220 + lab fee $580 + material fee $160) Total $2,510.

<  Computerized Accounting Systems

This course offers instruction in basic accounting principles and payroll.  Students will acquire comprehensive skills in advanced and specialized computerized accounting (QuickBooks and Peachtree).

 <  Fundamentals of Accounting

This basic accounting/bookkeeping program prepares participants for entry level accounting support positions.  Students review accounting terminology including T-accounts, trial balances, general journal and general ledger postings. Students are introduced to chart of accounts, account reconciliations, worksheet and financial statements, and will generate postings, reconcile subsidiary ledgers and review banking procedures. Students develop an understanding of the basic accounting preparation and the closing trial balance for a sole proprietorship.

Textbook required, available at College bookstore.

<  Payroll & Merchandising

Students learn the various payroll procedures, which includes paying employees, preparing payroll records, maintaining employee records, and recording the payroll and the payroll taxes required of employers.  Students become familiar with the government regulations – both federal and state for withholdings, dates when payments must be made, and forms that are submitted with payments.  Students learn about the following merchandising accounting procedures: depreciation of the plant assets, uncollectible accounts receivable, inventories, and notes payable and receivable.  Also, students become familiar with financial statements needed for merchandising procedures.

<  QuickBooks Applications

Students are taught to effectively use one of the more popular financial information systems.  Students will create their own companies, account and generate various accounting reports using QuickBooks.

15 hours (Tuition $192 + general fee $22 + lab fees $146 + material fees $60) Total $320.

Prerequisite: Knowledge of accounting principles.
