Our Summer Institute presenter -
Dr. Carolyn Hopper is a nationally known lecturer and workshop leader on topics such as brain research and learning, learning styles, memory techniques, time management, and using technology in the classroom. The author of several textbooks, most recently Practicing College Learning Strategies, 3rd edition, published by Houghton Mifflin, Dr. Hopper is learning strategies coordinator for the Developmental Studies Department at Middle Tennessee State University. She has supported the area of student success education with over one hundred state, regional, national, and international presentations, articles, and grants. Dr. Hopper is a consultant for the National Education Foundation and has won numerous awards, including the Carnegie Foundation’s Tennessee Professor of the Year Award, Tennessee Association for Developmental Education Outstanding Teacher Award, and MTSU’s Outstanding Teaching Award.
At the institute Dr. Hopper will apply recent brain research to practical suggestions about designing courses, presenting material to students, and creating assignments.
