WEB-BASED CAREER INFORMATION
Careerway.com
Careerway.com is a web-based career information program for all students registered at Middlesex County College. This comprehensive program offers 6 career assessments and a matching data base of over 900 occupations. With links to America's Job Bank and the Occupational Outlook Handbook, students can quickly see lists of occupations that match their interests and motivations, as well as local and out of state job openings. A "gap" analysis allows you to see areas that may call for additional training or experience.
IMPORTANT: In order to get the most out of careerway.com, we recommend that you meet with a counselor before, or soon after, you finish the the first self assessment. Contact the Department of Counseling and Career Services, Edison Hall, Rm. 100, 732.906.2546 for an appointment.

CAREER AND PERSONALITY ASSESSMENTS
Any student wishing to take a career or personality assessment below, must first make an appointment with a counselor in the Department of Counseling and Career services. Some of the following assessments are web based and others are paper and pencil. Some may be self-scored and others must be scored by a counselor. Strong Campbell Interest Inventory
The Strong Campbell Interest Inventory (SCII) is an interest self assessment based on John Holland's theory of career development. The interest inventory will measure your interests in a wide area of occupations, work, leisure, and school subjects. Most of all, the SCII will provide a list of occupations that not only match your interests, but match the interests of professionals working in those occupations.
After an initial meeting with a counselor in the Department of Counseling and Career Services, you may take the SCII on the web in the comfort of your own home or from any computer with an internet connection. Please contact the Department for more information.
Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)
A personality focused assessment that may enhance career decision-making.

Harrington O'Shea Career Decision Making System
A paper and pencil inventory that gives a visual picture of career choices, preferred school subjects, work values and abilities.
Available in English and Spanish.
The Self-Directed Search
A paper and pencil, self scoring assessment that can help in educational and career planning.
COPS Interest Inventory
A paper and pencil interest inventory which dsiplays answers under 14 career clusters.
COPES Values Assessment
A paper and pencil, forced choice values inventory which asks the individual to make choices between work and life preferences.
SkillScan
A paper and pencil card sort that helps the user explore and identify skills. The card sort allows the user to also identify skills that need to be developed for particular careers
The Career Exploration Inventory
A self-scoring and self-interpreting interest inventory instrument. Explore your career and job alternatives based on your interests in 3 major areas: work, leisure, and education. Recommended for individuals with significant life and work experience.
