Philosophy and Mission Statement

 

PHILOSOPHY

The Middlesex County College Dental Hygiene Program is based on a commitment to the highest standard of education that promotes the acquisition of knowledge, skills and attitudes that ensure quality patient care, professional competence and ethical behavior in the art and science of dental hygiene.

The Dental Hygiene Program of Middlesex County College provides individuals with knowledge and skills that will enable them to become dental hygiene practitioners thereby being an integral part of the health care delivery system in the community.

Essential to this belief is the provision of an educational environment that nurtures the students’ professional and personal commitment to the art and science of dental hygiene and to upholding the highest standards of personal conduct and professional competence.

 

MISSION STATEMENT

The Department of Dental Auxiliaries Education at Middlesex County College serves the community by providing a quality program in dental hygiene. Our mission is to create an educational environment that fosters student commitment to personal and professional excellence. The faculty, staff and administration strive to set the foundations for intellectual curiosity, life-long learning and professional collaboration.

 

PROGRAM GOALS

  1. To prepare qualified dental hygiene students according to the competencies adopted by the Dental Hygiene Program.
  2. To provide individualized patient centered comprehensive dental hygiene care.
  3. To participate in collaborative community health promotion through diverse organized experiences.
  4. To prepare professional dental hygienists who successfully integrate into the dental community.
