Important Disclosure Information
The Joint review Committee requires that the program provide disclosure statements concerning several important program considerations. Each of these may have significance in the choice of Radiography as a career option. These disclosures are for information purposes only and will not be used as a basis for admission to the program. If you have a concerns regarding the PREGNANCY POLICY, please contact the department chairman, Mr. Albert M. Snopek.
Radiography Education Pregnancy Policy
The department believes that it is the individual's right to choose to disclose any medical condition including pregnancy. If pregnancy occurs the student has two options;
- Not to disclose the pregnancy to program officials.
- Disclose the pregnancy to program officials. If a student chooses to declare her pregnancy it must be accomplished, in writing, to the program's chairperson. Disclosure will not affect the student's continued participation in the program.
If the student has declared her pregnancy the general departmental procedure following disclosure is:
| The student will meet with the clinical education coordinator for counseling and advisement regarding radiation safety. At this time the student will be informed of all of the available options for program completion.
If the student chooses to continue in the regular program sequence the clinical assignments may be adjusted, if necessary, to reflect specific contingencies required by individual hospital pregnancy policies. Supplemental radiation monitoring of the embryo / fetus and additional counseling will be required for the duration of the pregnancy
A pregnant student may request, by written notice, a leave of absence from the program. This leave of absence will be granted without penalty. Re-admission to the program sequence will be granted on a space available basis only.
The Radiography Education department will adhere to the "Policy for Pregnant Students" as stated by the New Jersey Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners. |
