Practical Career Considerations

Important Disclosure Information

The Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology requires that the program provide disclosure statements concerning several important program considerations. Each of these may have significance in the choice of Radiography as a career option. These disclosures are for information purposes only and will not be used as a basis for admission to the program. If you have a concern regarding these PRACTICAL CAREER CONSIDERATIONS, please contact the department chairman, Mr. Albert M. Snopek.

Practical Career Considerations

The following factors should be considered when assessing your career choice:
Radiographers must:
  • have written and oral communication skills in the English language to effectively and accurately communicate with patients, peers and supervisors.
  • possess motor coordination necessary to safely transfer patients, position patients, manipulate equipment, transport and process radiographic film.
  • have sufficient visual acuity to make radiographic technical adjustments to equipment to produce acceptable radiographs and to assess the completed product for technical accuracy.
  • possess motor skills necessary to utilize a computer keyboard and manipulate various equipment controls.
  • comprehend and follow various published policies, procedures and instructions relating to radiography.
  • demonstrate acceptable affective behaviors required by health care employers, for example; ability to perform under pressure, excellent attendance and integrity.
