HUMAN BIOLOGY, BIOMEDICAL ISSUES AND SOCIETY

BIO 106 is an introduction to the functioning of the human body; a survey of selected body systems in health and disease. There will be discussions and written assignments concerning human biological issues from both historical and current perspectives. Laboratory exercises (without dissection), audiovisual materials, computer simulations and current readings are included. Recommended for non-science majors.

REQUIRED TEXTBOOKS: Human Biology, Sylvia Mader 11th edition and Human Biology Laboratory Workbook 3rd Edition, Bogner, Morgan and Przygoda

This course will consist of 3 major units. The units may include Body organization, Skin, Nervous System, Blood Circulatory system, Immune System Hormones, respiratory system, Development, and Reproduction.
