NOTES ON THE ESSAY ASSIGNMENT

From one of these historical anthologies, choose one historical article relating to one of the following periods/issues:
- Reconstruction
- Populism
- America's emergence as a world power
- Progressivism
- America's entry into World War I
- The nature of the 1920s
- The nature of the New Deal
- America's entry into World War II
- The origins of the Cold War
Your essay (5 pages) will examine the thesis of the article of your choice and also compare/contrast the interpretation of the article with the historical interpretation taken by the relevant portion of the textbook.
PLEASE NOTE--The article must be selected from the editions of the books mentioned above and placed on reserve in the library. If you find these books in your local library, you must be sure you have selected the correct edition and the publication date.
Each student will submit the author and title of the historical article of his/her choice and the title of the book containing it on the due date.
