How is important information about campus closings and emergencies communicated to the College community?

Information about campus closings are communicated to the College community in a variety of ways.  They are as follows:

  • The College website www.middlesexcc.edu
  • The College emergency information line that provides 24-hour
voice mail announcements at (732) 906-2555
  • Radio and Television stations providing announcements (WCTC 1450AM, WMGQ 98.3 FM, WXKW 101.t5 FM and New 12 Cablevision, NJ)

In case of special situations or emergencies communication with the College community may be made using the College's email network or telephone system.  At time, there might be door-to-door notification by college personnel, activation of alarm systems and posting of notices,

How to report an emergency to the police

If you need polices assistance for any personal, student or campus emergency, you can call the direct police number at (732) 906-2500 or dial Extension 2500 from any campus phone.  You can also contact the Police Department by using any of the College's Emergency Call Boxes which are located in each of the main classroom buildings as well as outside in from of West Hall, Johnson Learning Center and in parking lots 4, 5, and 6A.  These phones connect directly with the Police Department.

You should familiarize yourself with your surroundings by knowing the exits and emergency phones nearest your classroom.

How to contact the Police Department in a non-emergency situation

If you need to contact the Police Department to discuss a non-emergency situation, you can call (732) 906-3500 from any campus phone.

If you are locked out of a classroom that you are assigned to teach in and you do not have the key, you may contact the Police Department.  Someone will be sent to open the door.  There is a procedure for getting a key to your assigned classroom so that the situation is not a recurring one.  Speak to the Department Secretary.

Medical Assistance on Campus

Nursing services are available in South II, Room 109.  The direct telephone number to the nurse's office is (732) 906-2530  or Ext. #2530 from any campus phone.

The nursing staff is available for faculty and student medical emergencies.  If you have a medical emergency for one of your students, immediately notify the nurse's office and/or the Police Department.  If the nurse's office is closed call the Police Department.

Of course, if you deem it appropriate, dial 911 for emergency assistance.
