Location

The main "headquarters " of the Mathematics Department is Center II.  This is a cozy, brick building in the middle of campus.  The office of the Chairperson, Dr. Maria DeLucia is in Center II, as well as the office of the Associate Chairperson, Professor Frank Mento, the Department Assistant, Nancy Fazekas, the Department Secretary, Julie Cosentino, and many of the full-time faculty members.  Because the Department has become so large, many of the full-time faculty members have their offices in other buildings on campus (Center I, Main Hall and L'Hommedieu Hall).  The Middlesex Telephone Directory is published yearly and includes the locateion of MCC employee offices and phone extensions.

Center II is open from Mon-Fri from 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM.

Buildings for Mathematics Classes

The classrooms used for mathematics classes are located in many buildings on the campus.  Classes are taught primarily in Main Hall (MH), South II (SII), L'Hommedieu Hall (LH), Johnson Learning Center (JL), Instructional Resource Center (IRC), Edison Hall (ED), and Raritan Hall (RH).  When rooms are really difficult to find, there might be classes held in the Library (LI).  There is a map of the campus in the College Section of the manual.

Telephone

To contact the Mathematics Department call (732) 906-2585 from the outside or dial Extension #2585 from anywhere on campus.  If there is no one in the office to answer your call, leave a message on the voicemail system.  The fax number of the Department is (732) 906-2629.

You should give a phone number or numbers where you can be reached by the Department to Nancy or Julie and notify one of them if your information changes.

Mailboxes

At the beginning of each semester, mailboxes are set up in Center II for all mathematics faculty, both full time and adjunct.  All correspondences will be put in your mailbox daily.  For adjunct faculty members who teach off campus, correspondences are mailed to the home address.

On occasion, you might want to leave something for a student to pick up.  Some of the faculty members leave items for their students in their own mailboxes.  When the student comes into Center II, he or she can ask the secretary to look in the instructor's mailbox for whatever has been left for them.  If you do this, make sure you clearly put the name of the student on the item you have left in your mailbox.

Department Supplies

Supplies such as chalk, erasers, pens, pencils, markers, staples, etc. can be found in Center II.  Blue books, pads, folders and College stationery is also in Center II in the photocopy room.  You can ask Nancy or Julie for any supplies you are unable to find.

Where can I have my lunch (or dinner)?

There is a common area in Center Ii where you have a snack.  There is a microwave so that you can heat up anything you want.  Because Center II is busy and the common area is often used for tutoring, many teachers choose to walk over to one of the cafeterias in the College Center.

The College Center has three cafeterias, the Winner's Circle, Colt's Pizzeria and the Corral Restaurant.

The Winner's Circle is open from 7:30 AM-3:30 PM on Mon-Fri.  There is a Dunkin Donuts, breakfast sandwiches, hot entrees with a specialty of the day, soup and salad bar, bagels and snacks.

Colt's Pizzeria is open from 11:00 AM -7:00 PM on Mon-Thurs and from 11:00 AM - 2:30 PM on Friday.  You can buy pizza and sandwiches.

The Corral Restaurant is open from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM on Mon-Fri.  They sell some hot dishes and sandwiches. The ambiance in the Corral is pleasant and is more quiet than the other cafeterias.

Going to any of these eating places might be a way for you to meet faculty members or provide a way for you and a colleague to enjoy some free time together to relax and exchange ideas.
