Request for Proposals to Develop Online Courses 

In support of the Strategic Plan's goal to expand hybrid and online course offerings the College is providing opportunities for faculty to submit proposals to develop online distance or hybrid courses. If you would like to apply to develop an online distance or hybrid course you please contact Brian Richards, Director of Instructional Design & Media Services on ext 2618 or by e-mail to BRichards@middlesexcc.edu  Please discuss development priorities with your Department Chairperson. 

The current round for proposals closed on February 29, 2008. 

The next round will open in August 2008

 SLOAN Consortium Premium Memebership

The College has joined The SLOAN Consortium, and every person at our institution is considered a Premium Member, who needs their own Sloan-C account log-in and password. If you have a free account already, you may use your existing account information to log into www.sloan-c.org to access particular sections and certain Premium Member resources. The same log-in information is used to access, http://epremium.sloan-c.org which was specifically designed for Premium Members.

If you do not have an account already, you can create one at http://www.sloan-c.org/aboutus/help.asp

Scroll down the page and choose the option that says “Activate My Own Membership Under My Institution/Organization.” Once the registration has been submitted, it will be cleared through the system. Please note that this process is not automatic and that you should be able to access the website within seven working days.

It is also recommend that you read the new report, available freely on the public SLOAN –C website that shows nationwide online enrollments are growing faster than ever -- there are over 3.1 million students learning online. Hybrid Course Website of the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee Learning Technology Center. A comprehensive site that introduces the challenges and advantages of Hybrid Courses and provides a range of resources from faculty and student perpectives.

teach online is a site maintained by the Virtual University Design and Technology Group at Michigan State University about pedagogy and techniques for hybrid to fully online courses.

Hybrid Course Gallery from Maricopa Community Colleges, provides a brief summary of how faculty from a range of disciplines are developing hybrid courses.

elearnspace a website and blog that is organized to present a whole picture view of elearning, for those involved in planning, managing and developing elearning

Blended Learning by Design - A paper from KnowledgeNet summarizing 5 key ingredients.

Online Education Resources a comprehensive collection of documents produced by Illinois Online Network along with some selected outside links.

The SLOAN Consortium web site includes a variety of research studies about Online and Distance Education, including a concise summary of research about interaction online and its implications for practitioners: Relationships Between Interactions and Learning In Online Environments.

AACE Digital Library peer-reviewed and published international journal articles and proceedings papers on the latest research, developments, and applications related to all aspects of Educational Technology and E-Learning.

The International Center for Distance Education literature database contains bibliographic information on over 12,000 books, journal articles, research reports, conference papers, dissertations and other types of literature relating to all aspects of the theory and practice of distance education.

elearning-reviews provides those interested in research on elearning with concise and thoughtful reviews of relevant publications.

LearningTimes.org is an open community for education and training professionals. Members have free access to a wide range of opportunities to interact with peers from across the globe -- live online, asynchronously and even face-to-face.
