The ServSafe® Sanitation Course
This 16-hour course provides an overview of basic sanitation policies and procedures that all food service managers, supervisors, owners and employees must follow. Topics include: the hazards that threaten food, basics of food safety systems including HACCP, methods of safe food handling, equipment cleaning and sanitizing, and controlling pests.
This program is recognized and accepted by more federal, state, and local jurisdictions than any other food safety education and training program. This course is designed for professionals in the food service industry who are looking to update their knowledge and credentials.
The New Jersey Food Safety Code, published on Jan. 2, 2007, states that “About 50,000 NJ stores, restaurants, banquet facilities, caterers and other retail food establishments are governed by the new rules…” “Any person in charge of a higher-risk food establishment must pass a nationally accredited food safety examination by Jan. 2, 2010”.
Upon successful completion of the exam, participants will receive certification that is recognized by the National Restaurant Association and the NJ Health Department. The course cost of $250 includes tuition, textbook and examination fees.
The class will be held on Monday evenings from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Class will begin Monday, April 7 and end on April 28. To register, call Michelle Del Vecchio at 732-906-4681 or e-mail her at MDelvecchio@middlesexcc.edu.
