PowerPoint & Office

PowerPoint can prove a valuable aid to teaching and learning, from creating a simple presentation, to displaying graphics and photo slideshows, to the use of hyperlinks, narration and video. Below are some useful resources on how to get the best from Powerpoint in the classroom or on the web. In the ID Studio we have resources like Impatica and MS Producer for adding sound and video or creating web based presentations.

Microsoft Office Training Self paced online tutorials on each program within Office 2007, 2010 and 2013.

JISC Digital Media This site offers a wealth of advice and documentaion on Digital Images in Teaching and Research, including a special section on Using Images in Education

Impatica for PowerPoint enables you to deliver fully narrated and animated PowerPoint presentations over the internet without plug-ins and even at normal modem speeds.

You can create online presentations based on PowerPoint slides with added narration, multimedia and interactive features using the online service called MyBrainshark. The FREE version includes unlimited storage and viewing, includes the ability to add narration, basic polling and slides play/selection and has easy to use slide by slide editing tools. It is cross platform, so works on a PC and a Mac and there is a free App to play presentations on an iPad called SlideShark

An alternative to PowerPoint is Screen Casting software which allows you to create tutorials with audio narration that capture all the activity on the screen. This is ideal for demonstrating how to use a particular feature or tool in a software package.
