College to Offer New Program in Baking and Pastry Arts
Middlesex County College has added a new certificate program in Baking and Pastry Arts. This 18-credit offering can lead to a great job in an upscale restaurant or hotel or a gourmet pastry shop. Job prospects are excellent for graduates in this field.

Governor and Legislature Remove NJ STARS Income Cap
Governor Jon Corzine and legislative leaders have reached an agreement to remove a proposed New Jersey Student Tuition Assistance Rewards Scholarship (NJ STARS) income cap limitation from the FY2009 state budget.

Free Training Program for Low-Income Residents Offered
A new, free program that will train individuals in allied health and transportation is being offered to low-income Middlesex County residents. The program, funded by a grant from the Middlesex County Department of Workforce Development, is open to those 19-21 years old. They will actually be paid for their participation: $4.50 for each classroom hour; $7.15 for each internship hour.

Former President Selected for Nursing Hall of Fame
Rose Channing Danzis, who was the founding chairperson of the nursing education program at Middlesex County College, was named to the Hall of Fame of the Nursing Education Alumni Association of Teachers College, Columbia University.

Middlesex Grad Receives Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship; Most Prestigious in U.S.
Middlesex County College graduate Namema Amendi was one of 51 students across the nation to receive the 2007 Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. This is the largest and most prestigious scholarship in the nation for students transferring from a community college to a four-year institution.

New Program in Process Technology Created at Middlesex County College
A new program is being offered at Middlesex County College that can lead to high-paying jobs in the process technology industry. Centered in the gas, oil and pharmaceutical industries, process technicians control and monitor equipment, analyze, evaluate and communicate data, and work with process instruments.

Chair of College's Computer Science Department Named to NJIT Board of Advisors
Frank Burke, chair of the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology at Middlesex County College, has been named to the Board of Advisors of the New Jersey Institute of Technology’s (NJIT) information technology programs.
