Former President Selected for Nursing Hall of Fame

Rose Channing Danzis, who was the founding chairperson of the nursing education program at Middlesex County College, was named to the Hall of Fame of the Nursing Education Alumni Association of Teachers College, Columbia University.
Dr. Danzis was president of Middlesex County College from 1978 to 1986.
“I am extremely honored to be accepted into the NEAA Hall of Fame,” Dr. Danzis said. “My commitment to advancing the cause of college education for nurses has been the highlight of my professional career over the years.”
While at Middlesex, Dr. Danzis organized the first college-based course for Registered Nurses in New Jersey. She served as chair of the Nursing Department, dean of the Division of Health Technologies, and as president of the College.
Dr. Joann La Perla-Morales, current president of Middlesex County College, lauded her predecessor.
“I was thrilled to learn that Dr. Danzis was inducted into the Hall of Fame,” Dr. La Perla-Morales said. “She was the architect of our original program here, and is a legend in the field. We are all proud of her.”
Dr. Danzis received her R.N. from the Jersey City Hospital School of Nursing, and her Bachelor of Science Degree at New York University. She earned two Master’s Degrees and a doctorate from Teachers College, Columbia University.
Dr. Danzis was active in state, national and international organizations and received a multitude of awards and honors. She had many articles published and delivered a numerous speeches at nursing and education conferences.
She was invited by the Taiwan college system to participate in a seminar on the education of Registered Nurses. She was invited and visited a number of nations to study their nursing education programs, including France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Greece, Israel, Morocco, Japan, Thailand, the U.S.S.R., Australia, New Zealand, Fiji Islands and Canada.
