New Certificate Program in Computer Help Desk Administration
Beginning in January, a new program offered at Middlesex County College will train workers to become Help Desk Administrators. Graduates of the program will staff computer help desks and call centers. "This is a booming field," said Frank Burke, chairperson of the Computer Science Department. "For example, one company, Vonage, is anticipating hiring 100 people per month. Computer support is one of the top 20 growth areas in Middlesex County, and help desk administration is a significant part of that field."...
STARS II Legislation Introduced: Plan Would Cover Tuition for STARS Students Who Go on to Four-Year Schools
A Middlesex County College student was one of two college students who spoke at a news conference in Trenton in December as the legislation creating the STARS II program was introduced. The original STARS program, passed in June of 2004, provides free tuition and fees for students who graduate in the top 20 percent of their high school class and attend their community college full time. STARS II, which was proposed December 5, continues the program for STARS students who graduate from the community college with a 3.0 grade point average and attend a participating public college in New Jersey...
