Is public transportation available at MCC?
You are responsible for arranging your own transportation to and from the campus. Public transportation is available. You can get copies of bus schedules in the Office of Student Activities, located in the College Center; you may also click on the following link to view the NJ transit bus schedule.

Any information regarding discounted train or bus passes may be addressed by the Office of Student Activities in the College Center.

Are classes taught at one location?
Besides classes at our main campus in Edison, Middlesex has various satellite locations where classes are taught. Below are those locations; perhaps there is a location that is close to your home.

Is there security on campus?
The College's Police Department is a duly sworn law enforcement agency whose officers are empowered to enforce and act upon New Jersey statues. Its primary mission is to protect the life and property of the College community and to ensure that individual freedoms are protected. A representative of the Department will meet with any person or group to discuss any problem at any time. The Police Department is located in the Gateway building.

To call the Department from off campus, dial (732) 906-2500. To call from on campus, dial extension 3500.

The Red emergency phones provide direct access to the MCC Police Department and are located in the major classroom buildings.

Is there a Daycare Center on campus?
The Middlesex County College Child Care Center is a full day educational program available to the local community as well as the College community. Hourly care is not available.

We are open from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. During the Fall and Spring semester. We also offer extended care hours for parents who are taking evening classes at MCC.

The Child Care Center accepts children ages 2 years to 5 years old. Children are provided with breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack at no additional charge.

Classrooms are age-graded, with one qualified teacher and at least one assistant in each room, based on class size.

Tuition is based on the child's age, and the number of days attended per week.

Reduced rates are available to qualified applicants. Applicants for reduced fees must be full-time students, employed full-time, or participating in a job-training program. No discounts are given for sick leave, vacations, or holiday closings.

Are there computer labs for students to use?
There are more than 50 computer labs available on campus, containing over 1,100 PCs, including 66 systems in the IRC Open Lab. The Open Lab is a place for students to go for unscheduled access to the Internet and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point. Check with the library for current operating hours.

Many of the departmental labs are available for student use when the lab is not being used as a scheduled classroom. Available open hours for labs are commonly posted within the lab.

Many academic departments have PC Lab Coordinators available to assist in scheduling and using the PC labs. Check with the PC Lab Coordinator for specific procedures related to departmental labs.

Most departments also have Student Technical Assistants (STAs). STAs are available to assist with general software questions as well as to report equipment and network related problems. It is the responsibility of the student to learn the software.

Is there a place I can go to workout?
The Physical Education Center features collegiate-size basketball courts, a weight room, swimming and diving complex, a dance studio and racquetball courts.

The weight room has a state-of-the-art treadmill, computerized exercise bikes and Stairmasters. Students with valid ID cards have free use of the swimming pool any time that we are open and the weight room between 7am-2pm. Evening use of the weight room is restricted to fitness club members. The MCC Fitness Club is open to registered students who have paid the student service fee, full-time faculty, staff and members of the Alumni Association. Membership includes free use of all facilities except the racquetball courts.

Is there Job Placement Assistance on campus?
Whether you are a student or graduate seeking career information, job placement assistance, or career counseling, we can help. Job placement assistance is available to all currently enrolled students in good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher) as well as alumni. To register for the service, you will need to meet with one of the Career Services staff either during walk-in hours or by appointment. They are located in Edison Hall room 100. You will be required to submit a current resume. If you do not have a resume, help in writing a resume is available through our on-line guide or by appointment. Please call for walk-in hours or to schedule an appointment at (732) 906-2546.

Is there a place to eat on campus?
MCC does not have a meal plan option available, so students must pay cash for their meals, but students have a wide variety of options for meals on campus. All food services are located at the College Center. Students can choose from a variety of prepared foods such as pizza, burgers, sandwiches and even a Dunkin Donuts. There are also vending machines available on campus twenty four (24) hours a day.

What services are offered at the college Library?
The Middlesex County College Library is here to help with your information needs. The Reference Librarians offer group and individual instruction in locating and evaluating appropriate materials for your research projects.

Among the basic reference sources and other traditional information tools, the College Library subscribes to a variety of online databases. In addition, materials can be obtained through Interlibrary Loan. The library is also linked with other libraries through an online catalog (MIDAS).

Expand your research and learning activities with a visit to the Media Center in the Instructional Resources Center, where you will find the Open Computer Lab, Multimedia Lab, and videotapes. For further information related to location, hours and resources click on the link below.
