Placement in RDG 009 and Possible Challenge

Placement in RDG 009 and Possible Challenge

Any score on the Reading Comprehension Test may be challenged once on the computer. This challenge must take place prior to the first day of class.  The Challenge Test is available in the Testing Center in JLC 229.   

You must achieve a grade of C (70%) or higher to pass RDG 009.  You may be exempted from RDG 011 if you achieve a C+ (75%) in your coursework AND a score of 22 or higher in the departmental final (or the departmental tenth week exam) with the discretion of the instructor.

This table will guide you in how to plan your schedule if you are placed into RDG 009.

If you want to enroll in only one course
  1. RDG 009
If you want to enroll in two courses
  1. RDG 009
  2. ENG 009 or ENG 010 (depending on placement)
If you want to enroll in three courses
  1. RDG 009
  2. ENG 009 or ENG 010 (depending on placement)
  3. the appropriate level of developmental or credit-earning math
If you want to enroll in four courses
  1. RDG 009
  2. ENG 009 or ENG 010 (depending on placement) 
  3. the appropriate level of developmental or credit-earning math
  4. SSD 101
