Articulation Agreement Excerpts

Middlesex County College and Shippensburg University

 

This agreement is intended primarily for the benefit of those students who have completed an associate degree at Middlesex County College and desire to continue towards completion of a baccalaureate degree at Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania.

1.                    For admission to SU, a student completing an associate degree at MCC will be required to earn at least a 2.0 quality point average (QPA) on a four-point scale.  For SU programs with admission requirements other than a 2.0 QPA, the same criteria required of SU students will be applied to MCC students.  These admission requirements will be provided to MCC on an annual basis.

2.                    Students without an associate degree will be required to have at least a 2.2 QPA for admission to SU.

3.                    Credits transferred from MCC will normally be limited to half of the credits required for the baccalaureate degree at SU.  The dean of the appropriate college at SU must approve any exceptions.  A minimum of 45 credits must be completed at SU, including 30 of the last 60 credits earned.  At least one half of the courses in the major field must be completed at SU.  A course by course equivalency will not be required for general education courses.

4.                    SU agrees to waive diagnostic (or placement) testing for MCC students who have earned a grade of “C” or better in the appropriate college level general education courses in communication and computation.

5.                    For the purpose of general education, degree, and program requirements, MCC students will be considered as matriculating at SU at the time of their original matriculation at MCC.  MCC students will be subject to the same continuous enrollment guidelines as SU students in determining which requirements and policies will apply.

6.                    Remedial and orientation courses do not normally fulfill SU graduation requirements.  SU will treat such courses from MCC in the same manner as equivalent courses at SU.

7.                    Certain SU programs may be designated as “impacted,” requiring limitations on enrollment.  SU will provide MCC with a list of these programs along with the special requirements for students who wish to enter these impacted programs.  SU also agrees to allocate spaces into these programs for qualified transfer students from MCC.  The number of spaces to be made available will be reviewed each semester with MCC officials.
