What have you been up to since graduation?

Since the completion of my Associates degree, I earned my Bachelor’s in psychology from Northeastern University and my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Seton Hall University. I am currently enrolled in The University of Akron’s Counselor Education and Supervision in Marriage and Family Therapy Ph.D. program. I divide my efforts into teaching, research, and clinical work. I hold a Marriage and Family Therapy license in Ohio and work with a diverse array of clients and clinical needs. My current research is on intimate partner violence, parenting, social connection, alcoholism, integrating MFT theories, and incorporating multiculturalism/ intersectionality in therapy. Additionally, I have taught courses as an adjunct professor at multiple colleges and universities. Although I’ve enjoyed working at other institutions, Middlesex is dear to me as an alum. I am happy to be able to give back to the college and teach the next generation of scholars.

What is one of your greatest achievements since graduating from MCC?

I have recently been recognized for my community service work. Walmart and The New York Knicks have honored me with The Community Playmaker Award. It was amazing to receive recognition for my work along with the immense generosity from my favorite sports team of all time.

What was your favorite place on campus, why?

My favorite place on campus was definitely the Starbucks in Main Hall. I am 100% an avid coffee advocate. I can certainly appreciate a grande white chocolate mocha before a day of classes!

Who was your favorite professor and why?

My favorite professor was definitely Dr. Maya Aloni. I took two of Dr. Aloni’s courses, Introductory Psychology and Social Psychology; she is knowledgeable, funny, and most of all she cares about the future of her students. I am still in contact with Dr. Aloni as she has been a mentor to me throughout the last seven years.

If you could offer a current MCC student advice, what would it be?

PLAN! PLAN! PLAN! It is essential to plan your course/ degree audit in advance to make sure the courses you want to take are available and that you fulfill the prerequisites. Also, be aware of transferring requirements and deadlines ahead of time to make the transition over to a university as smooth as possible!

Why was attending MCC the right decision for you?

MCC kicked off my college degree and three degrees later I am still in school pursuing a Ph.D. Besides the obvious factor of saving me thousands of dollars, I am grateful for the experiences I had and the opportunities extended to me for attending MCC.
