Middlesex County College Offering “Classes for Contemporary Cooks”
Looking for gift ideas for the chef in your life? Middlesex County College is offering 30 different cooking classes starting in January.
In addition, Chef Kevin Sbraga, winner of Bravo TV’s national competition, “Top Chef,” will offer cooking demonstrations on Thursday, February 3. He will do a breakfast demonstration at 9:30 a.m., a “little feast” program at 4 p.m. and a dinner demonstration at 6:15 p.m. His program is free, but registration is required and seating is limited. It will be in Crabiel Hall, in the new demonstration kitchen.
The 30 classes cost $50 each and include a tasting and copies of the recipes. For those who register and pay for any three classes at the same time, the cost is $99. Each class is one evening and runs from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
Classes include cooking for Super Bowl Sunday, Chinese New Year foods, Italian, Brazilian, tapas, chocolate, heart healthy cooking, low-salt meals, gluten-free, cooking on a budget, grilling, cake decorating, and cooking for Mardi Gras and St. Patrick’s Day, plus many others.
“I think these classes will be very popular,” said Lynn Lederer, director of professional and community programs at the College. “They’re quick and fun and we have recruited a great group of chefs to teach them. What a great gift for those who love to cook or want to learn.”
