Our center employs Creative Curriculum. This is a researched based hands-on learning approach that utilizes children’s natural curiosity to question the world around them. You will find no preset lesson plans but instead lesson plans that are carefully planned by the children’s interest.
Each classroom has interest areas such as block area, art area, dramatic play, sand and water, discovery, library and toys and games. These areas have materials that are age appropriate for the children and scaffold their learning abilities. Children’s work is not differentiated from play. Daily activities include dramatic play, dance, creative art experiences, manipulation and classification of materials, large and small muscle exercise, and verbal interaction with both adults and peers to promote language development.
Children are given choice time to pick their area of interest as well as meet in small groups with teacher to process a particular objective of learning. Lesson plans are posted both in the classroom and in the hallway so parents can review and ask for clarification if necessary.
