Standing Task Forces – Purposes
- Academic Standards studies and recommends policy regarding admissions, transfer credit, grading and course credit standards graduation requirements, credit-by-examination, scholastic honor criteria and grading policies.
- Accessibility for Persons with Disabilities advises and sensitizes the campus community to the needs of disabled individuals; provides the leadership for promoting architectural accessibility, development of educational resources and supportive staff; and recommends a plan that provides equal educational opportunity for individuals with disabilities.
- By-Laws reviews all recommended changes in the Bylaws by any member of the College community and recommends to the College Assembly any changes in the Bylaws.
- Campus Diversity studies and recommends policy regarding the degree to which the curriculum reflects diversity issues such as the impact of race relations and cultural pluralism on learning as well as the inclusion of all faculty in the creation of curriculum and methodology. It studies and recommends policy concerning efforts by the College to foster among students civility and respect for differences and if the College defines and responds effectively to diverse student concerns. Additionally , the task force studies and recommends programs to facilitate the professional development of faculty and staff to enhance the effective service of a diverse student body.
- Campus Life and Community Concerns studies and recommends policies concerning the use of College facilities by students and student organizations, student-created and/or oriented College publications (including the college website, public information about the College in public forums such as, but not limited to, newspapers, radio and the internet); campus speakers; the relationship of the College with local, county, state and national communities; campus health and safety, counseling, job placement and college transfer; academic advising, student activities, and financial aid.
- Curriculum studies and recommends policy regarding courses for which college credit and credit equivalency is offered; new curricula; changes in credit hours, contact hours or prerequisites; change in curriculum sequence. It also evaluates all new or revised general education courses according to general education criteria and acts on catalog course description changes which reflect changes in course content and studies and recommends policy on technical certificates.
- Educational Resources studies and recommends policy regarding needs for additional physical facilities, needs relating to learning resources, and needs relating to satellite operations.
