Accreditation
Accreditation Status
The Middlesex County College Dental Hygiene Program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA). The Commission is a specialized accrediting body recognized by the United States Department of Education. The Commission on Dental Accreditation serves the public by establishing, maintaining and applying standards that ensure the quality and continuous improvement of dental and dental-related education and reflect the evolving practice of dentistry.
Complaint Policy
The scope of the Commission on Dental Accreditation encompasses dental, advanced dental and allied dental education programs. Copies of the Accreditation Standards for Dental Hygiene Education Programs are available in the Chairperson’s office upon request.
A complaint is defined by the Commission on Dental Accreditation as one alleging that a Commission-accredited educational program, or a program which has an application for initial accreditation pending, may not be in substantial compliance with Commission standards or required accreditation procedures.
If a student feels that the dental hygiene program is not in compliance with the accreditation standards or required accreditation procedures, he/she can contact the Commission on Dental Accreditation at 211 East Chicago Avenue, Chicago, IL 60611-2678 or by calling 1-800-621-8099 extension 4653. The Commission’s web address is: http://www.ada.org/100.aspx
The Commission on Dental Accreditation will review complaints that related to a program’s compliance with the accreditation standards. Though the Commission is interested in the sustained quality and continued improvement of dental and dental-related education programs, it does not intervene on behalf of individuals or act as a court appeal for treatment received by patients or individuals in matters of admission, appointment, promotion or dismissal of faculty, staff or students.
