Apply for Student Loans
Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loan
Step 2: Log into https://studentloans.gov to complete Entrance Counseling.
Please note both the Entrance Counseling and MPN will ask you the “school information”. Please select “New Jersey” as the “School State” and “Middlesex College” as the “School Name.”
Step 4: Log into your Financial Aid Self Service, and select “Request a New Loan”. For instructions to access your Financial Aid Self Service, please go to “Check your Financial Aid Status”
Please note the loan amount is based on enrollment, dependency status and year in college. The loan amount you requested may be divided into subsidized and unsubsidized loans. Please see the chart for the loan limits. For more information regarding student loans please visit https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/types/loans
Step 5: The last day to apply for a loan:
- Fall 2021 term – November 30 2021
- Spring 2022 term – April 30 2022
- Summer 2022 term – July 30, 2022
Direct PLUS Loan (Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students)
Step 2: Log into https://studentloans.gov to complete the Plus Loan application.
Step 3: Log into your Financial Aid Self Service, and select “Request a New Loan”. For instructions to access your Financial Aid Self Service, please go to “Check your Financial Aid Status”
Step 4: Write in the Comments that the loan is for Plus Loan only.
Step 5: Your parent needs to fill out and submit Federal Direct PLUS Loan Request Form. Submit the signed form as an email attachment to firstname.lastname@example.org , or submit the form in person to Enrollment Services in West Hall, Edison campus, or at the New Brunswick or Perth Amboy Center.
Federal regulations require students that no longer maintain at least half time enrollment and have borrowed student loan funds complete “Exit Counseling.” Half time enrollment is defined as at least six credits per semester. Exit Counseling provides a reminder to student loan borrowers of their rights and responsibilities. You may also check your loan history at any time by logging onto https://nslds.ed.gov . To complete the mandatory Exit Counseling, please follow the directions below.
- Go to https://studentloans.gov
- Select “Complete Exit Counseling”
- Select “Log In” and log in with your FSA ID
- Click the Start button
- Select Middlesex County College with the “Add a School” option on the right
- Complete the exit counseling and submit
