Welcome to the History and Social Science Department

Department Hours: Monday – Friday: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm

We are the faculty and students of History, Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, Criminal Justice and Education, a powerful collection of people who use reason and reflection to understand the most important matters of human life. Our programs are strong, rich, and full of opportunities – a start here can launch careers in medicine, law, education, politics and both clinical and experimental psychology.

    Democracy House
    Center For Civic Engagement

Democracy House is our award-winning Center for Civic Engagement and Community Service. Diverse groups of students unite and work together to address the unmet needs of the local community through endeavors such as mentoring elementary and high school students, helping to feed the hungry, organizing blood donation drives, hosting events to increase awareness of issues like sexual assault and gender violence, completing neighborhood improvement projects — and much more! Students receive an hourly stipend and a college scholarship for their commitment and desire to learn about, and serve their community.
