The Hospitality, Culinary Arts & Dietetics Department (HCD) was founded in 1969 due to the rapid growth of the Hospitality Industry. Our programs have gained national recognition through our excellent facilities, faculty, and the success of numerous graduates.
All majors benefit from a combination of theoretical/classroom preparation and hands-on experience. The practical experience is gained through lab components of many HCD courses. In other courses there is a requirement for supervised work experience out in the field. Many courses also include certification exams to provide national recognition for course completion and competencies.
Classes in HCD are “block scheduled” to meet one time per week. A student can attend four classes in two days. Student feedback indicates block scheduling better meets their busy schedules.
