If you work full-time at the College, you are required to enroll in the NJ public retirement system. Part-time employees, including non-work study and those that meet certain salary and/or hour requirements, may also be eligible for participation.

Please note: if you are a member of a New Jersey State Pension Program, you can also choose to participate in a 403(b) Supplemental Retirement Annuity and/or a 457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan.

NJ Public Employees Retirement System (PERS): For full-time support staff and some professional staff. All grant employees, support and professional, are enrolled in PERS after 1 year.
Police & Firemen’s Retirement System (PFRS): For campus police officers.
Alternative Benefit Program (ABP): For adjuncts, faculty, and some professional staff.
Defined Contribution Retirement Program (DCRP): For part-time, non-adjunct employees earning at least $5,000 per year.
State Health Benefits Program (SHBP): MCC does not participate in the SHBP program. Only full-time retired employees with 25 years in the state pension plan are eligible for the SHBP. Also, an employee who qualifies for ordinary disability would be eligible.
