Dance Ensemble Performs April 25 and 26

The Middlesex County College Dance Ensemble will present its 14th annual spring dance concert entitled Innovation & Celebration on Saturday, April 25th at 7 p.m. and Sunday, April 26 at 2 p.m. Both performances will be held in the Performing Arts Center on the College’s Edison Campus and are free with a suggested donation of $5 per

The College is currently celebrating its 50th anniversary and to honor this occasion the MCC Dance Ensemble is participating in the Liberal Arts Festival, with a focus on innovation!

“Therefore, the dances presented are inspired by themes of innovation, celebration, anniversary, the number 50 and the 1960s era in which the college opened,” said Aimee Mitacchione, artistic director of the Dance Ensemble and professor of dance at the College.

The Ensemble is modern dance-based, but also performs other dance genres such as hip-hop, jazz, tap, contemporary, and ballet. Along with professional choreographer Lees Hummel, several MCC student and alumni will be choreographing the program, including Tabitha Edwards, Kayelynn Gonzalez, Rodney Green Jr., Amanda Guerra, Corinne Hughes, Sarah Hussain, Nella Iaccarino, Charles Jones, Michael Korner, Nikola Palivoda, Joisa Reyes, Amanda Toth, and Nicole Zygler.

“The performers range from advanced dancers to absolute beginners,” said Professor Mitacchione. “The MCC Dance Program prides itself on offering students a chance to dance who may not have otherwise been given the opportunity. We strive to provide a professional concert that will be thought provoking and inspirational.”
