Andrew Dzurisin, assistant professor of sociology, was a contributor to an article in “The New York Times,” “Safest Bet in Sports: Men Complaining about a Female Announcer’s Voice” written by Julie Dicaro published on September 18. Professor Dzurisin also served as a contributor to a previous article written by Ms. Dicaro titled “Why Twitter Can Be An Ugly Place For Women in Sports Media” published on “Sports Illustrated’s” website, SI.com in 2015.
Charlotte Quigley, manager of career services, completed the training and passed the exam and is now a Certified Professional Résumé Writer (CPRW) as certified by the Professional Association of Résumé Writers and Career Coaches (PARWCC).

Health and Safety Day brought dozens of human service and safety agencies to campus to help students, faculty and staff learn about how to make their lives healthier. The day included a visit by the children in the College Child Care Center, who learned about fire safety from the Edison Fire Department. Dental Hygiene students attended the David Nasto Oral Cancer Screening/Walk/Run to Raise Awareness at Perona Farms in Andover, NJ. Lynn Tobin, MCC faculty and dental hygiene club advisor, attended with the students. The 23 participants raised $695.

Christian Cuison ’17 received the Edison Chamber of Commerce Annamae Baerenbach Scholarship and was honored at the chamber’s annual dinner meeting in October. Mr. Cuison, who transferred to Rutgers, is shown with Professor Steven Zale.
Two MCC students who served as volunteers at SIGGRAPH (Special Interest Group on Computer GRAPHics and Interactive Techniques) returned to MCC to speak about their experience. The conference, held in Los Angeles, was attended by tens of thousands of computer professionals. Eric Campos (left) and Kevin Flores also autographed a poster made of the “This Month at Middlesex” story about their trip. Mr. Flores has since been accepted to volunteer at SIGGRAPH Asia, which will be held in Thailand.
