Donna-Marie Gardner participated in a Genomics ShortCourse offered by the National Human Genome Research Institute at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland in August. The main topics included gene-editing and the human Microbiome (all of the microbes that are in and on the human body and how they contribute to overall health).
Math professor Simon Aloff and the late Professor Michael Miniere published an article in the spring 2018 issue Pi Mu Epsilon Journal, the official publication of the National Honorary Mathematics Society. They had worked on the problem discussed in the journal for two-and-a-half years. The paper presented a new formula for calculating an infinite sum of numbers. There are very few such formulas, and this new formula established a connection between infinite sums and finite mathematics.
