Dental Grads Post 100 Percent Pass Rate

Every member of the 2010 graduating class of the Dental Hygiene program at MCC has passed the regional and national boards. They are all now eligible to begin working as dental hygienists.

The certification consists of a clinical exam, in which the dental hygienist works on a patient, and a seven-hour written exam. The clinical examination is administered by the North East Regional Board of Dental Examiners, a consortium of 16 state boards, and the written exam is administered by the American Dental Association.

“This is wonderful news,” said Hope-Claire Holbeck, the chairperson of the department. “This is the fourth year in a row that our graduates have achieved the 100 percent mark and we couldn’t be more proud of them. Our faculty do a great job in making sure our students are successful and these results are a credit to the students and the program.”
