Seeking motivated high school seniors attending the New Brunswick public school system, wanting to get a jump start on college!

This amazing opportunity will help high school students with limited resources become college ready now by improving their writing skills during the spring of their senior year.

This grant program is offered in partnership with the NJ Office of the Secretary of Higher Education (OSHE) and the NJ Council of County Colleges (NJCCC). It offers:

  • FREE English Composition I (ENG 121) class or ENG 121 with support (ENG 121S)
  • FREE expert tutoring
  • FREE course supplies
  • FREE college readiness workshops (all sessions mandatory)
  • Access to a college advisor and counselor

Only twenty students will be selected for this opportunity. Priority preference for seniors who need extra help with their English writing skills.

For consideration, high school seniors must complete a College Readiness Now (CRN) application, a High School Scholars Program application, submit an official high school transcript, and score a minimum of four (4) on the Writeplacer portion of the college placement test.

A mandatory orientation for students and parents will take place on January 14, 2020 at 4 p.m. Students selected will be notified by January 15, 2020. Tutoring is mandatory for students selected by their instructor. Key sessions are mandatory.

The class meets twice per week (Tuesday and Thursday) starting on Tuesday, January, 21, 2020 at 4 p.m. and ending on Thursday, May 7, 2020.

College-bound students will learn how to enroll at Middlesex County College. Students do not have to enroll at Middlesex County College to participate. For questions or additional program information, please call the New Brunswick Center at 732-745-8866 and ask to speak with an advisor.
