Please Note: Group Advising Sessions are designed for students to work independently with the guidance of an Academic Advisor. Family Members are not able to work with the students during the session.
Group Advising Description:
Group Advising provides students with an opportunity to meet with an Academic Advisor to discuss major and course requirements, register for classes, and prepare for the first semester at MCC.
Upon successful completion of this session, students will be able to:
- Understand options to pay for college.
- Identify college terminology and different types of courses at MCC (e.g. developmental vs. credit-bearing)
- Learn about academic resources available at MCC.
- Understand college placement test scores/placement based on standardized exams (e.g. SAT/PARCC/ACT), options for course placement, how to register for classes, and create an academic plan on Student Planning.
Please Note: Group Advising Sessions are not intended for transfer students, returning students, ESL, or students accepted to Project Connections or health programs.
Before you move on to schedule your session to register for classes, we want to make sure you are ready to register. Please review the following questions:
1. Have you been accepted to Middlesex County College ?
2. Have you completed at least one of the following?
- Completed your College Placement Exam
- Submitted exempting SAT/PARCC scores
- Completed College Level English and Math
If the answer is YES to both questions, please proceed for registration.
Now that you have confirmed your eligibility to register for classes, please review the following options for Advising and Registration!
Option 1: Sign up to attend Group Advising (recommended)
Option 2: Come in for a walk-in advising session (walk-ins are only offered at specific times. Please review the walk-in schedule below.
Option 3: Online Advising (If you are unable to come in person you can receive academic advising online)

Option 1: Sign up for a Group Advising Session (Recommended) – Fall 2018
All students must register to attend a session. If seats are no longer date/time please choose a date that is available.
Please Note: Dates are arranged by the day of the week. Please review the entire schedule for the next available session. If you are not able to find a date that works with your schedule, there will be new dates available each week.
If you have a schedule conflict or a special request for advising and registration, please Submit a Request and let us know. An Academic Advisor will contact you within one business day to discuss your options (the campus will be closed on Fridays through August 17th)
Option 2: Walk In Group Advising Schedule
During the weeks of July 30th – August 17th
(We are not open on Friday, Saturday or Sunday)

Walk In Group Advising Session Times (You do not need to sign-up to attend)
Monday/Thursday 12:00 PM – 5:30 PM
Tuesday/Wednesday 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Option 3: Online Advising – Fall 2018
