Supplemental Information for each Creative Discipline

Creative Writing Criteria

All student work will be submitted by their teacher by February 14, 2020 to MatSpano@middlesexcc.edu

Work can include: Critical or Personal Essay or Memoir, Drama, Fiction, Science Fiction & Fantasy, Short Story and Poetry. All copyright and plagiarism rules must be followed in the work submitted.


Visual Arts Criteria for 2D/3D Artwork

Each teacher will be able to select one work per student to display.

Each student’s work must:

  • Be two dimensional (2D) artwork (painting, drawing, collage, print, mixed media, computer generated or photograph) for hanging or three dimensional (3D) (ceramic, glass, plastic, wood, paper mâché, and mixed media) for displaying
  • Be no larger than 18”x24”. 2D artwork must be matted with standardized labels attached to the bottom right hand corner; 3D labels must be attached/or close to the 3D piece
  • Be delivered to hang in the Studio Theatre Gallery at MCC on Friday, March 6 from 2-5 pm. T-pins will be used to attach to exhibition surface. NO FRAMES
  • Show creativity and originality, composition, content, and technical skill
  • Follow copyright and plagiarism rules

Drop off and hanging of student work will be on Friday, March 6 from 2-5 pm, at the Studio Theatre gallery right near the College Center

All artwork will be exhibited during the Middlesex Teen Arts Festival on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 and a special viewing for the students, their families and teachers will be on Monday, March 9, 2020 at 6-7:30 pm. All are welcome at this event.

All schools and teachers are welcome to attend the State Teen Arts festival. There will be release forms to be signed for the work to move to the State Teen Arts Festival. All artwork going to the State Teen Arts Festival will have to be framed.


Dance Criteria

All dance groups will report to their assigned area 10 minutes before scheduled performance time. There is a boom box available to play CDs or a connection for an MP3 player/iPhone/computer to a sound system.


Instrumental Music Criteria

All instrumental groups will report to their assigned areas 10 minutes before their scheduled performance time with instruments and music stands. Chairs will be set up.


Musical Theatre Performances

All theater groups will report to their assigned areas 10 minutes before their scheduled performance time.


Theatre Performances

Vocal Music Criteria

All vocal music groups will report to their assigned areas 10 minutes before scheduled performance time.
